Reduce the load on your primary heating system with the Fronius Ohmpilot, which allows you to use any surplus solar energy for heating or hot water treatment. In the best case scenario, you can even switch off your primary heating entirely during the summer months. This not only saves money, but also extends the service life of the heating system in the long term, regardless of whether you use a heat pump, pellets, oil or gas
For owners of PV systems, especially those who are confronted with feed-in restrictions, it makes sense to use as much self-produced electricity as possible. This saves money and makes you less dependent on electricity providers and fossil fuels, as well as helping you to bypass rising energy costs.
With the Fronius Ohmpilot, you can use surplus solar power to generate hot water or heat, therefore increasing your self-consumption. With Fronius Ohmpilot, even the tiniest amounts of excess PV electricity are put to good use- right down to the very last watt.
Whether you heat your home with a heat pump, a pellet heating system, with oil or gas - a photovoltaic system can support the heating system. Whenever there is a surplus of solar power, it can be used to generate heat.
This option even allows you to switch off your heating system completely during the summer months and you do not have to activate the entire heating system for small amounts of hot water. This not only reduces your energy costs, but also extends the service life of your heating system.
As part of a PV system, the Fronius Ohmpilot is displayed in Fronius Solar.web. This means that a whole host of parameters relating to your hot water treatment and heating with the Fronius Ohmpilot, along with any other Fronius components, are clearly displayed in the familiar monitoring tool. This gives you a digital, convenient overview of your customers’ systems, which can be accessed from anywhere.
The Fronius Ohmpilot is a consumption regulator designed to use excess solar power to heat water.
The Fronius Ohmpilot is primarily used to intelligently control heating elements for providing hot water in boilers and buffer storage tanks, but can also be used for infrared heating or towel radiators. Solar power can thus provide a family home with average levels of water consumption with most of their hot water during spring and summer.
The result is maximum self-consumption, a reduction in the household’s CO2 emissions and less wear on the building’s main heating system during the summer months.
Fronius Ohmpilot has a convenient Legionella feature that heats the water to over 60 degrees at specific intervals to kill any bacteria or germs in the water. Heating then resumes at the specified setpoint temperature.
All you need is a cylinder with an electrical heating element. The heating element is classed as a resistive load. The cable that feeds your existing element is connected through the Ohmpilot using the supply and load terminals on the Ohmpilot.
The Fronius Ohmpilot is fully programmable 24/7. Access to the Fronius Ohmpilot is via the IP Address of the device which the owner has access to. Our commissioning team will go through this in detail and apply some provisional settings which can be edited to suit the owner.
The dimensions are 330mm height, 280 width, 110mm depth. Cable entries are on the bottom of the unit.
